Netflix and Sega have officially revealed the release date for season 2 of the popular animated series Sonic Prime, based on the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. First premiering back in December 2022, Sonic Prime season 2 will officially kick off on Netflix on July 13, 2023. No information on a third season has been revealed at this time. Sega and Netflix are expected to share more information as the second season approaches.

What To Expect From Sonic Prime Season 2 On Netflix
Season 2 of Sonic Prime was first confirmed by Sega back in January 2023, with the company promising more episodes would be coming later in the year. The first season of Sonic Prime was released on December 15, 2022, on Netflix, with 8 episodes released. The series has been on hiatus since.
Season 2 will also consist of 8 episodes, and there is currently no official information for a third season. Sonic Prime is slated for 24 episodes, however, and season 2 will bring the series up to 16. This means a third season is very likely to be released in the near future, possibly sometime in 2024.
This is purely speculation, however, and nothing is confirmed.
What is known is that the new season will kick off right where the previous episode, “There’s No Arrgh in Team,” left off, and see Sonic and Shadow confront each other once again in the void between dimensions.
It appears they will start working together afterward, likely to try and restore the multiverse to the way it was before the shattering of the Paradox Prism.
Series executive producer Logan McPherson has gone on record talking about what fans can expect from the second season in an official statement:
“The story continues to build and stretches Sonic to his limits both physically and emotionally, so you can expect a wild ride and a lot of fun to come!”
