According to new job listings on playstationjobs.co.uk, Sony is creating a new studio focused solely on developing games for the Project Morpheus, called North West Studio. Based in the North West of England, this new studio will aim to “build great games to showcase this exciting new immersive technology.”
For now, not much is known about these new projects other than the position descriptions. When contacted by Eurogamer, a spokesperson had the following to say:
We are still in the early planning phase with this studio, and are currently focused on hiring the right team.
We look forward to sharing more news and formal announcements in the near future.
Project Morpheus is Sony’s take on the new evolving virtual reality technology that so many companies have recently embraced. Designed to be fully functional with the PS4 and the PS Vita systems, the VR headset uses a 1080p OLED with 120hz refresh rate to create a deep player immersion.
We are expecting Sony to release more information about Project Morpheus at their E3 press conference on June 15th. What do you think? Excited and will you be buying it? Stay tuned for more updated news and share with us in the comments!
