It’s time once again for Speedrun Fast, and we’ve got our eyes on a fairly recent game, Dishonored 2. There are nine categories for the game – three major, and three sub-categories for each of those.
For the majors, there are any%, non-lethal/ghost, and acquiring all collectibles. The sub-categories are the same for each: playing as Corvo, as Emily, and a no-powers version. That can be hard to choose from, so those nine have been narrowed down to what we believe will be the most fun to watch. And we hope you agree with our choice to show a non-lethal Corvo run and an all-collectibles Emily run.
Gameplay between Corvo and Emily in Dishonored 2 is pretty much the same. The only real differences are aesthetic and the fact that some of Emily’s animations take slightly longer. Emily runs usually are a minute or two behind Corvo’s, but the discrepancy is minuscule. Both these runs are just a few months old and done by the same runner, bjurnie. In fact, bjurnie holds the gold trophy in seven of the nine categories, beaten only by Zzyke in non-lethal no-powers. All-collectibles-no-powers is, of course, empty.
Bjurnie goes through Dishonored 2‘s missions at lightning speed, so it’s no surprise these are noticeably faster than the no-powers runs. In all categories, runners are allowed to create saves starting that the earliest possible instant after gaining control of their character. Timing ends upon interaction with the petrified Corvo/Emily, as that’s the last moment in Dishonored 2 the player has control of their chosen protagonist. In both categories, runners are required to display proof of achieving the objectives for the run to count.
The sheer amount of skill speedrunners display is frightening. Almost as frightening as these horror game runs, in case you missed them. Be sure to have a change of undies at the ready.
