Halo. The very first game featured in Speedrun Fast, which covered the first three main series games. Today is the 108th episode of the segment, and we’re returning to that exalted franchise to explore the rest of them. Today also marks my final time writing Speedrun Fast. That’s right, after 107 installments, it comes to a conclusion now, and I can’t think of a more fitting farewell. Now… let’s finish the fight.
Halo 3: ODST might be a sort of spinoff, but it belongs solidly in the franchise’s narrative and is a good game all its own. NakedEli provides us a walkthrough tutorial on running the game, describing his tactics and pointing out objects of interest as he goes. They’re divided into separate videos by level to make it easier to find a specific one.
Bam, a four-player co-op run of Halo: Reach. This is from the perspective of Halodude (isn’t that convenient), who tackles the game alongside Pedrogas, Davco, and Backflip. There’s no commentary for this one, but it keeps your eyes glued. For an extra challenge, try to piece together what each of the other players are doing from their markers.
The great thing about Games Done Quick (other than the charity) is hearing the commentary and learning the skill and exploits involved in breaking your favorite games. Halo 4 is no different. You’ll get combat tips and see how and where to skip out of bounds, not to mention hear funny donation comments.
And here we are. What other way could we possibly conclude the Halo series, and Speedrun Fast, than with a Legendary world record of Halo 5? Be sure to turn your volume way up, the video is super-quiet. DavidSpartan95 gives a breakneck dash through the opening… and then through a cliff wall. There’s no shortage of chaos, but the man maintains his cool and gets us past the danger.
There it is, the final show. To all you brave soldiers who dedicated your countless hours to speedrunning these games, thank you. The gaming community, and even the world, is a batter place for your efforts. And those who’ve been watching these amazing runs with us, thank you for sharing in all the exciting moments. I’m glad to say I was able to send my own work on the series out… with a bang.
