There’s something strange in the neighborhood. Who you gonna call? Luigi! There’s something weird, and it don’t look good. Who you gonna call? Luigi! Luigi’s Mansion was a cult classic when it debuted on the Nintendo Gamecube in 2001. Classic enough to warrant a sequel on the 3DS called Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon. That’s the one we’re shining the flashlight on today. And because we want the lean, mean, green machine to be a scared out of his suspenders as much as possible, he’ll have to 100% the game… or stay there forever! Mua ha ha ha ha ha!
Apologies for the quality. This is, in fact, the only up-to-date Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon run with a video to even see (yes, speedruns can be submitted without video, but it’s rare). Hey, give us a break – these are ghosts we’re talking about. Catching them on camera is tricky business, you know. Anyway, Riidolsk’s world record run, after several attempts, finally jumps ahead of the coveted sub-four hour completion time. 100% in Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon involves getting all the upgrades, collecting every gem, and nabbing all 32 boos that appear in the areas.
Luigi’s Mansion will also see a re-release of the original game on the 3DS later this year. Announced back in March, the remake will feature the map on the bottom screen with an 8-bit icon tracking the player’s exact position. They’re also adding a boss rush mode into the mix. If it does well enough, a third game might just materialize out of the swirling mists and ominous dark clouds. Just be careful if it does. We wouldn’t want your home to become haunted by Bogmire. If that thought is too scary to bear, you can laugh the chills away with this QWOP speedrun. But only if you survive until morning…
Good night…
