He has magic hands but no arms. He has feet but no legs. He has a circle drawn on his shirt. Rayman lives and thrives in 2D, but his 3D outings (the ones without the psychotic bunnies) rank among the top five in most fans’ minds, if not number one of all time. He’s appeared on all major consoles, but we’ll be looking at Rayman 3: Hooldum Havoc on the Gamecube. This is a 100% run with some glitches, so you’ll see pretty much all of the game as well as a few exploits. Be sure to turn the volume way up, the video’s unfortunately pretty quiet.
Seems like there’s a lot going on at any one time in Rayman 3, but despite that it never gets overwhelming. It’s also rare to see a 100% run in a game that uses so many skips and other unintended exploits, since runners usually need to forego glitches in order to fetch all the collectibles. Rayman 3 is one of those quirky and fun entries that you enjoy watching just as much as playing. Alekzoz knows his way around the game like the best of them, and he’s done Crash 2 and Rayman 2 as well.
Before we sign off for the week, take an additional eight seconds to wonder what the heck happened here:
That was a glitched category “speedrun” of Rayman 3. If only saving the world really were that easy… But does this really count as a speedrun? Come on, there wasn’t even any gameplay!
Still craving more zany madness? Well, speaking of Crash, here you go. And now that we’ve reached the end of this iteration of Speedrun Fast, what have we learned? It’s possible to hack your way to success? If evil hoodlums bother you, throw your fist at their face? No. The real lesson here is, it’s Rayman, NOT a man named Ray.
