If clothes truly make the man, then they definitely make the Spider-Man. This is clearly what was on Marvel’s mind when they recently revealed Spidey’s new suit on their website. Designed by artist Dustin Weaver, the wall-crawler’s new duds can be seen on variant covers for the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man #62 and #63. As you can see below, the costume takes on a more white and blue look than his normal attire.
Weaver had the following to say of Spidey’s new suit:
This design was really a collaborative effort between Nick Spencer, Editor Nick Lowe, and I. They reined in the weirder and more tech-y features I was bringing and helped create something that I think is simple and both futuristic and classical. I can’t wait to see Patrick Gleason really bring it to life!”
As of the time of writing, Peter Parker’s decision to wear the new suit is unclear. However, fans can find out the reason when Amazing Spider-Man #61 and #62 hit stores in March. Peter will wear the costume in his fight against the Kingpin, although it’s unknown how long he’ll don it afterwards.
There are notable similarities between Spider-Man’s new comics suit and the Armored Advanced Suit from Spider-Man Remastered for PS5. These lie in both suits’ predominant white color contrasted alongside darker colors. But it also remains reminiscent of Spidey’s MKII Spider-Armor from the 90’s comics in color choice.
Appearing only in Web of Spider-Man #100, the Spider-Armor remains a memorable one-issue wonder. The white-and-blue suit was created as a response to the New Enforcer’s weapons. The armor made Spidey bulletproof but impaired his agility. The suit was eventually destroyed by acid. The costume would reappear in various Spider-Man media over the years, most notably the 2000’s NeverSoft PlayStation game.
