Earlier today, Insomniac Games announced that Marvel’s Spider-Man will release later this year on September 7, 2018. Along with this announcement, a pre-order trailer showcased three Spidey suits that will eventually be available. And better yet, they won’t be available through microtransactions — because there won’t be any!
These new character skins were revealed in an interview done with Insomniac by Game Informer. The three possible suits are Spider-Punk, Noir, and Wrestling Suit. The Spider-Punk outfit is included as one of the pre-order bonuses, and Spider-Man will sport a sleeveless denim jacket and a spiked mohawk. Oddly enough, this skin also allows Spidey to pull out a guitar for a sonic attack.
The possible Noir skin is a throwback to a variation of the comic series. Spider-Man Noir was a darker take on Peter Parker’s story and was set in the 1930’s during the Great Depression. As of this writing, the abilities of the Noir suit are still unknown. The potential Wrestling Suit has yet to be officially seen.
However, it is rumored that there are still more suits and skins to come! Two additional suits are scheduled to be announced as additional pre-order bonuses, and the DLC is supposed to come with additional suits as well. The DLC is a three-part campaign entitled Marvel’s Spider-Man: The City That Never Sleeps which is set to feature new villains, missions, and characters.
In their interview with Game Informer, Insomniac was pretty clear that there would be no microtransactions for in-game items. In fact, Brian Intihar, Creative Director for Insomniac Games, said “hell no” to the possibility of microtransactions in the upcoming game.
Marvel’s Spider-Man is set to release exclusively on PlayStation 4 on September 7, 2018, and pre-orders are live now! Along with the Spider-Punk suit, other pre-order items include a Spider-Drone, extra Skill Points, a PSN avatar, and a theme designed by Adi Granov.
