The International Cinematographers Guild (Local 600) award winners were announced today as the 59th annual ICG Publicists Awards Luncheon was held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel. The publicists of Marvel and Sony’s hit movie Spider-Man: No Way Home and Apple TV+’s Ted Lasso won the top awards at the 2022 ICG Publicists Awards.
Every year the International Cinematographers Guild awards honor the best in film and television publicity. Paramount Pictures publicist Tim Menke conducted the 2022 ICG Publicists Awards luncheon along with unit publicists Sheryl Main. The 59th annual ICG Publicists Awards luncheon housed people from IATSE Local 600 members to public relations executives, producers, and journalists. Their presence at the ICG Publicist Awards amounted to more than 700 industry leaders in attendance.
The Marvel and Sony Tom Holland blockbuster and the Jason Sudeikis comedy-drama series won the Maxwell Weinberg awards for the best publicity campaigns in their respective film and television categories. According to the ICG Publicists Awards website,
The Maxwell Weinberg Publicist Showmanship Award honors active members working in film and television whose achievements in publicity and promotion during the previous calendar year are deemed outstanding. The Awards Committee selects up to six nominees from the membership on either submitted materials or from an awareness of particularly noteworthy campaigns.
For this year’s ICG Awards, the nominees for the Maxwell Weinberg Award for Motion Picture Publicity were Warner Bros. Dune, Universal Pictures F9: The Fast Saga, Netflix’s The Harder They Fall, Paramount Pictures A Quiet Place Part II, 20th Century Studios Steven Spielberg directed West Side Story and Marvel and Sony’s Spider-Man: NWH.
On the flip side for television, the nominees for the Maxwell Weinberg Award for Television Publicity Campaign were The CW’s Batwoman, Amazon’s The Underground Railroad, Disney+’s WandaVision, and Apple TV+’s Ted Lasso.
Spider-Man: No Way Home won the Maxwell Weinberg Award for Motion Picture Publicity Campaign, while Ted Lasso won for a Television Publicity Campaign.
