Some Spider-Man rumors are circulating that the much-beloved character could make an appearance in the new Morbius universe. Well, the director of the upcoming film is willing to reveal all. Early Morbius trailers suggested that Spider-Man could exist in this universe after a mural of the masked vigilante was seen in front of Jared Leto’s character, with the word “Murderer” scrawled across it. If the rumors are true, the next question would be about which version of Spider-Man it could be, with there now being three active actors wearing the mask.
What does the director have to say about the Spider-Man rumors?
Morbius director Daniel Espinoza recently sat down to discuss his upcoming film and to finally confirm or deny whether there was any truth in these rumors or if there was even a Spider-Man in the Morbius universe’s version of New York City. “Of course, in almost all of the Spider-Verse, and if you read the comic books, the whole idea of that Marvel string theory is very relevant. You have a world where you have the same characters but characters who are also very different. So, in almost all verses, there will be a version of Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, and any other character, but they will all be different in tone.
Espinoza went on to say that “The MCU is approaching the idea a bit different, but still staying loyal to the core idea. But it means that every universe focused on the Marvel world would have a Spider-Man figure attached to it”. This is slightly beating around the bush – as you would expect not to give too much away – but it does pose the idea that there might be a version of Spider-Man in the Morbius universe at some point.
All you fans can do is stay tuned to see if these Spider-Man rumors are true, you may not find out in the upcoming Morbius film, but future adaptations could include a version of the character, which would be awesome, to say the least.
