Hello Scorpion. Goodbye, Spider-Man.
This could very well be the case if a recent tweet by actor Michael Mando implies what we’re thinking. The actor, who played Mac Gargan/Scorpion in an after-credits scene of Spider-Man: Homecoming, has recently given out hints that he will reprise his role in future MCU films.
Firstly, there’s the matter of a recent tweet. Mando posted an image of himself in a tweet from March 8, 2020, accompanied by the image of a scorpion. Check it out right here:

Secondly, there’s the March 2 interview he did with YouTuber Steve Varley where he discussed episodes 2 and 3 of Better Call Saul. While the interview was primarily BCS-focused, Varley took the time to ask Mando about a possible return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, following his brief appearance in Spider-Man: Homecoming. This video was posted earlier in the month, March 2, 2020.
To that, Mando simply responded, “There is a chance. There’s always a chance.”
Fans have reacted with excitement on Twitter. It would seem many feels that it is beyond coincidence that Mando would post a picture with a Scorpion attached like this, especially given the comment above.
What’s more, Scorpion’s reintroduction would be appropriate given Peter Parker’s current story in the MCU. In Spider-Man: Far From Home, Quinten Beck reveals the webhead’s secret identity to the entire world through video. Given that Scorpion was seen gunning for the web-slinger in Homecoming’s after-credits scene, the public reveals of Spidey’s identity may offer him the perfect opportunity to enact his revenge.
The third film in the MCU Spider-Man series is scheduled for release on July 16, 2021. Peter Parker himself, Tom Holland, has suggested that the film will take place during the character’s senior year of high school. Jonn Watts is also thought to take up the directing chair once again for the movie.
