The version 3.0 update for Splatoon 2 is inkoming later today at 6pm Pacific and 8pm Central. And just in case you need a refresher, here is everything that will change when it arrives, according to Nintendo’s website. This is a full and complete list, and a rather exhaustive one at that.
New sets of gear will become available in the shops, and two more songs are being added to the playlist in multiplayer matches. For the most competitive of squids and kids, the intimidating X Rank has arrived. Players who achieve this lofty status in Splatoon 2 will be able to strike a unique pose in multiplayer lobby by pressing the left and right joysticks simultaneously. Maybe it’s that X shape the inklings in the update trailer made when the rank was first announced?
As for Splatfests, voting percentages will now display to the hundredths mark (0.00) as opposed to tenths (0.0). Splatfest power will also not decrease when losing a match due to having fewer team members “for an even shorter duration.” Regular battles’ vibe meters, however, will not drop down upon losing a match with an incomplete team. Those are the most noteworthy and critical changes to Splatoon 2. The rest are the routine minor bug fixes and weapon and ability adjustments. And there are way too many of them to list here, so click that link at the top of the article if you just gotta know.
Fans might have heard that the next Japanese Splatfest pits discovery against technology. Themes and dates for the western world still haven’t been announced yet (I even logged onto the game in the middle of writing this article to check), so we’ve got another week at least to clear our schedules.
Again, Splatoon 2’s version 3.0 update drops at 6pm Pacific/8pm Central. Still can’t wait for that Octo Expansion.
