In case the latest DLC for Final Fantasy XIV didn’t have enough sad androids for you, Square Enix is publishing A NieR: Automata novel.
Earlier today, Nov. 18, 2019, at Anime NYC, Square Enix revealed a new novel set in the post-apocalyptic world of NieR: Automata, NieR:Automata YoRHa Boys. The novel is one of six new titles in Square Enix’s English-language manga, novels and art book line-up for 2020. The various titles, releasing Fall 2020, will be published by the company’s new Square Enix Manga & Books imprints and includes: The Apothecary Diaries, Ragna Crimson, The Great Jahy will not be Defeated!, Beauty and the Feast and By the Grace of the Gods.
NieR:Automata YoRHa Boys, is written by Jun Eishima and was supervised by NieR:Automata Director Yoko Taro, and takes place before the events of Neil: Automata and focuses on the story of, a squadron composed of YoRHa male type models, like 9s from the game, established for the purpose of collecting a full range of behavioral data, called Experimental Unit M. The novel also includes artwork by Final Fantasy illustrator, Toshiyuki Itahana.
