A new trailer has been released for the third and final season of Star Trek: Picard, which will stream on Paramount+. In addition to the trailer, Star Trek: Picard lead Patrick Stewart has also announced a release date for the third season, which will be released on February 16th, 2023.
Star Trek regular Patrick Stewart announced news of the season 3 trailer, who stars as the eponymous Admiral Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: Picard and portrays the character for seven seasons on Star Trek: The Next Generation. Deadline reports that Picard is meant to “[follow] the character into the next chapter of his life,” but a first look at the newest trailer for Star Trek: Picard shows Picard being reunited with some well-known faces from Star Trek: The Next Generation, including Johnathan Frakes as William T. Riker, Michael Dorn as Worf, Gates McFadden as Dr. Beverly Crusher, Brent Spiner as Data, and Marina Sirtis as Deanna Troi.
Everything We Know About ‘Star Trek: Picard’ Season 3
The release of the Star Trek: Picard trailer coincided with the Star Trek Day livestream event on Paramount+, which saw Stewart onstage with fellow Picard stars Jeri Ryan and Michelle Hurd, or Seven of Nine and Rafaella. In addition, it was also announced that the final “nostalgia-heavy” season of the show will be released on February 16th, 2023 – the reason for the considerable wait before the newest season is unknown, but Terry Matalas, writer for Syfy’s 12 Monkeys and 2020’s MacGyver, has been confirmed to be stepping in as showrunner for the new season.
The new trailer for Star Trek: Picard, available below, shows where the show might be headed under Matalas’ direction: according to Polygon, the trailer is “vague on plot details,” but it does show Picard and his crew on the USS Titan, commanded by William T. Riker (Johnathan Frakes). The trailer also shows Dr. Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden) holding off a group of mysterious masked assailants and a Federation building imploding, with Picard’s crew declaring, “Where you go, we go.”
The exact circumstances that have befallen the crew of the USS Titan are unknown, of course, but Star Trek fans will undoubtedly be paying close attention to Patrick Stewart and Paramount+ for more details on the new season before its release in February 2023.
