We’ve all sat there and dreamed of having our very own arcade cabinet at home, being able to play at any time and not having to load in countless coins. The problems have always been space and money. I can’t help you with space, but, the money side of things may be slightly easier thanks to an announcement from Arcade1Up.
Coming in October, via Gamestop, they shall be releasing a Star Wars Home Arcade game cabinet at a cost of $500, which is still a fair whack, but does come with free delivery. Bargain.
The unit itself will include three original arcade games based on Star Wars: A New Hope, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. Standing at over 5 foot tall, it would look great in anyone’s living room and I’m sure the other half wouldn’t mind at all.
Take a look at the specs below:
- Dimensions: 20” D x 18.75” W x 60.8″ H (with Riser)
- Box dimensions: 11.25” D x 47.75” W x 23.75” H
- Weight: 92lbs
- 3 Games in 1
- Custom Riser With Original Artwork
- 1 Player
- 17″ Color LCD Screen
- Real Feel 4 Button/ Trigger Style Flight Yoke
- Dual Speakers
- Game Settings Menu
- Light-Up Marquee
- Records Your High Scores
- Clear Deck Protector
- Adjustable Variable Volume
- Anti-Tip Over Strap
Realistically $500 is still quite a lot and is definitely out of my reach (especially as it only ships in the USA), however, it is far more reasonable a price compared to what I have seen before, and having 3 games in one is a bit of a bonus.
I actually regret starting to write this article as I have found a few of the other units that are available and I still can’t have them. If anyone wants to buy me the cabinet that comes with Gauntlet, I will love them forever, it only costs $299.99 and will provide me with years of joy.
The upcoming Star Wars cabinet can only be ordered online, which is obvious, although I’d love to see someone trying to lug this out of their local Gamestop.
If any of you buy this Star Wars cabinet or have any other arcade cabinets at home, we are all extremely jealous of you and would love to see pictures. Please send them to us over on Twitter.
