“Lucasfilm is in development on a second Star Wars live-action series for Disney+, the Company’s new direct-to-consumer streaming service. Diego Luna will reprise his role as rebel spy, Cassian Andor. In a statement posted to the Star Wars official website, Luna said,
“Going back to the Star Wars universe is very special for me,” said Luna. “I have so many memories of the great work we did together and the relationships I made throughout the journey. We have a fantastic adventure ahead of us, and this new exciting format will give us the chance to explore this character more deeply.”
The story will focus on espionage and secret missions to bring peace to the galaxy. Fans will get to see Andor as the full-fledged rebellion spy he was before meeting Jyn Erso. However, we don’t know much more than that.
This is the second Star Wars live-action television series coming to Disney’s streaming service next year. Director Jon Favreau (Iron Man, Friends) is developing The Mandalorian, a story following a mysterious lone gunfighter on the outer rim.
The release date for the upcoming Cassion Andor spy thriller series is unknown and no other cast members have been announced.
It seems all things surrounding Disney+ remain a mystery. The upcoming Disney streaming service will launch sometime in 2019, pulling all Marvel and Star Wars related content from Netflix.
