A Star Wars book archiving the history and designs of lightsabers was announced during San Diego Comic-Con@Home. Titled simply The Lightsaber Collection, it promises a deep dive into the history of lightsabers in the core universe and beyond. Now, StarWars.com revealed some more details of what to expect inside the book!
The lightsabers aren’t just the ones featured in the movies – originals, prequels, and sequels. They also come from The Clone Wars, Rebels, the comics, video games, and long history of novels. You’ll get to explore the weapons of characters such as Ben Solo, Ezra Bridger, Ahsoka Tano, the Darksaber, and of course fan-favorites such as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Rey.
The book will also contain behind-the-scenes details on their design process, giving fans a closer look at everything that goes into choosing a specific lightsaber for a specific character. Some that come to mind are Ezra’s blaster-saber hybrid from Rebels, Asajj Ventress’ curved hilts, and Kylo Ren’s medieval-style saber. Purchasers of the book also get a special surprise! There is a sneak peek of a brand new lightsaber to be featured in The High Republic.
Right now, the book is only available for preorder from Amazon. It’s currently listed at $26.99, a slight discount from its $29.99 price. This hardcover book will officially arrive on October 20, 2020. The book is written by Daniel Wallace who is known for other works such as The Jedi Path, The World According to Spider-Man, Warcraft: Behind the Dark Portal, and Star Wars: The New Essential Guide to Characters. The summary of the book on Amazon is:
Star Wars: The Lightsaber Collection is a comprehensive visual guide exploring the iconic and legendary lightsabers found within the Star Wars galaxy, featuring fan-favorite hilts from the Skywalker saga, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels, comics, novels, and video games.”
