We’ve heard a lot about Bethesda’s massively hyped RPG Starfield in the past couple of years, and with it, Todd Howard’s promises keep on delivering. By that, we mean they don’t. Starfield was supposed to release sometime in late 2022, but that’s changed to 2023. Delays will always happen. Keeping that aside, what’s up with Starfield’s Rating in Australia? Keep reading to find out!
Starfield’s Rating in Australia?
Bethesda has given us a sneak peek of what Starfield has in store for us, and it seems promising for the most part. We always wanted a Fallout experience in outer space. At least, that’s what the community hopes it to be.
Starfield is said to feature a massively procedurally generated open-world galaxy along with some hand-crafted content in the mix to keep gamers engaged. Although the game was supposed to release back in 2022, it wasn’t, but Xbox’s Phil Spencer stood alongside Bethesda on this stance. A delayed game is better than a broken one.
But what’s going on with Starfield’s Rating in Australia? It appears that the Australian Classification Board has given Starfield an Adult rating due to “interactive drug use.” It means that only players over the age of 18 can legally purchase Starfield. But gamers always know a workaround for this age requirement.
Other vices like nudity and sex received low ratings. Violence was a big driving force, and the final nail in the coffin for Starfield’s Rating in Australia was the depiction of Drugs. To put things into perspective, Bethesda’s earlier hit AAA title, Fallout 4, received a respectable MA-15 Rating despite the strong depiction of drugs such as Jet that can lead to an addiction in-game.
So what do you think about Starfield’s Rating in Australia? Do you think an Adult Rating is going to stop a younger audience? Is Starfield’s rating going to have an impact on sales? We don’t think so, but let us know what you think in the comments below!
