In case you missed the memo; currently, Steam is running a sale and a live stream marathon event, aptly named Remote Play Together Sale & Streaming Event, from March 25 yesterday to 29 to promote its latest Steam Remote Play update. First added in October 2019, Steam Remote Play allows you and your Steam friends to play local multiplayer games online through Steam’s network system. Valve promised that up to four players — or even more with fast connections — can join in on the fun.
However, thanks to this month’s update, your friends no longer need to have an account to use Remote Play! Simply grab a URL link to your currently-running co-op game from the Invite Anyone To Play option in the Friends list, send the URL to anyone however you like, just like a Discord invite, and you’ll be playing together in no time. Only the host needs to own and install the game, while additional players can easily connect from Windows, Mac OS, Linux, iOS, or Android devices through Steam or Steam Link app.
The Steam Remote Play sale cuts the prices of many popular local multiplayer titles up to 80%, from cooperative ones like Castle Crashers, Overcooked, River City Girls to even competitive games such as Injustice 2 and Human Fall Flat. Whether you want to have fun by playing through a story together or butting heads with old friends without going outside, there is definitely a choice for everyone. Meanwhile, the live streaming marathon features popular YouTubers and online personalities:
- Capitalists (@CapCasts)
- Lewis (@YogscastLewis)
- Pyrion Flax (@PyrionFlax)
- Sheever (@SheeverGaming)
- Sips (@Sips_)
- SirActionSlacks (@SirActionSlacks)
- Sohinki (@Sohinki)
- Squid (@SquidGaming)
- TastySteve (@Tasty_Steve)
- Yipes (IFCYipeS)
- and Zain (@ZainNaghmi)
Again, the Remote Play Together Sale & Streaming Event sale will be up only until Monday, March 29. Better check out your wishlist right now to see if there are any discounted multiplayer games you haven’t bought yet. Stay tuned for more gaming news and Steam sale update on The Nerd Stash.
