One of the many titles to appear is Nocturnal, a new 2D platformer where flame and fantasy intertwine with speedrunning opportunities. Players will take on the role of Ardeshir, a soldier who wields both flame and steel in a fight against an unknown darkness. The demo for Nocturnal will be available starting at 10 AM PT today (February 6), with a new gameplay trailer to boot. Strap on your side-scrolling shoes, adventurers!

After a tedious odyssey across seas, Ardeshir returns home, only to find that a mysterious mist has enshrouded the land. Armed with fire and a blade, Ardeshir delves into the situation by means of discovering the cause of the unknown fog. With his fiery abilities at hand, players can utilize Ardeshir’s powers in more than one avenue in the gameplay. These include fending off the mist itself, adding light to the shadows, activating machinery, and more. Experience some of the magic of Nocturnal now with the gameplay trailer, which you can view below.
The attached trailer is equipped with a peculiar sound approach to its presentation. As the footage progresses (or more so, as Ardeshir runs, jumps, attacks, and dodges), heavy breathing increases in the background. It adds an eerie vibe to the fresh gameplay snippets, inflaming continuous suspense until the title card pops up.
Interested players can check out Nocturnal now via its official Steam page. It currently has a release window for Q2 of this year, but the demo is available for some early gameplay. Additionally, there are links to the Twitter and YouTube channels for Nocturnal to stay up-to-date with any upcoming announcements.
Nocturnal is being developed by Sunnyside Games with publishing support from Dear Villagers (The Forgotten City, Revita, Edge of Eternity).
