Your tools in Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town are how you interact with the world and shape your farm. They’re how you collect materials, harvest your crops, and even take some cute snapshots of the wilderness. Out of the nine tools you have, eight of them can be upgraded to newer and greater versions. Here’s how you can upgrade your tools to the very best they can be.
How to Upgrade Your Tools in Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town
To begin upgrading your tools, you will need to head over to Clemens in the Tool Shop. Tell him you want to ‘Upgrade Tools’ and a menu will pop up. Each upgrade will require materials and gold, so be sure to have some spending money before starting.
The first upgrade available to you will be the Iron upgrade. You will need an ample amount of Iron ingots as well as some Lumber for the handles. Don’t worry about finding Iron. It is commonly found around your farm and the nearby mines. When you upgrade your tools, they will be able to hit more spaces and have a special charged move.
The next step in your tools journey is the Silver upgrade. Each tool will require five Silver ingots and Lumber and will cost 3000 gold each. You will find Silver ore in the second part of your farm. All you need to do is fix the bridge and head into the mines. Again, this upgrade will extend the reach of your tools as well as strengthen the charged ability.

After the Silver upgrade, the next step is the Gold upgrade. Now you start to get into the expensive category. Not only do these upgrades cost over 20,000 gold each, but they also require better materials. Each tool will need 10 Gold ingots and Supple Lumber. Both of these materials are found in the third part of your farm. Just fix the bridge to the north, and you’ll have access to them.
Finally, after the Gold upgrade, the tools can reach their final Orichalcum upgrade. This is the priciest upgrade as it reaches up to 150,000 gold each, and requires the most materials. The materials range from Orichalcum ingots, Gold ingots, and even Mirage Lumber. Each tool is different and you’ll need to be patient when gathering materials.
While Gold, Silver, and Iron are reasonably easy to get,  Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town is unenthusiastic in supplying Orichalcum. There are two ways of getting it. The first is to head to the deepest part of the third mine, and hope that you can find some. The second is to head to the Stonebreaker Valley that unlocks when you reach mining level 9. Stonebreaker Valley is the better method as it’s easier to find the ore, and it will respawn if left alone for a few days.
And there you have it! Your tools are essential in this game so upgrading them as fast as possible would be a smart move. However, don’t let this detract from the fun you’re having. Your tools will be there to upgrade whenever you are ready.
