Capcom also revealed a new video highlighting the game’s real-time commentary features. This new feature will have commentary from famous fighting game commentators highlighting aspects of the match as it progresses. Lining up with Capcom’s audience, the feature will have subtitles in 13 languages, with more to come.
The game’s returning cast includes Ryu, Chun-li, and Luke, the final playable DLC from Street Fighter V. One of the newest characters in the franchise includes Jamie, a breakdancing kickboxer, and Kimberly.
Street Fighter 6 Trailer: New Mechanics and Modes
The game’s new mechanics include the Drive system. This features a resource gauge that players can use to perform five different techniques: super armor move, a parry, EX (enhanced) special moves, a forward-moving rush attack, and a low damage reversal. The game will also include a classic control scheme, as well as a “modern” control scheme that makes specials easier to execute. In their description, Capcom describes the moves as,
A Drive Impact is a powerful strike that can absorb an opponent’s incoming attack and can lead to a wall splat. Use Drive Parry to repel your opponent’s attack and refill your Drive Gauge. Cancel out of a Drive Parry or normal attack into a Drive Rush to quickly close in on your opponent. Overdrive Arts are similar to EX Moves from the past games that power up your Special Moves. Use Drive Reversal to perform a counterattack to get you out of tight situations. One gauge, five techniques, unlimited possibilities. Use your creativity to choose which technique to utilize and when. It’s all in your hands!
Unlike the previous fighting game modes, such as local/online/arcade/training, the game will also have a single-player “World Tour” mode. With this is also a “Battle Hub” that provides players “a new and unique way to engage, communicate, and interact.” Lastly, the trailer shows a sort of open-world that involves fighting in a series of battles.
Street Fighter 6 will launch on PlayStation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. As previously mentioned, there is not a definite release date for the game as of yet.
