The finale of Succession TV has gotten several reactions, while others were quick to bid farewell to the Emmy Award-winning show’s season 4. Laced with the realities of a dysfunctional family, in 2018, the series opened fans up to the life of Logan Roy, a stupendously rich man. Logan, played by Brian Cox, is at the reins of the Waystar RoyCo company. The global media and entertainment company was portrayed as a big family business with his children eagle-eyed on the successor line. Expectedly, throughout the show, there is a play of power, politics, and wealth among those vying for a seat at the high table. At the end of the drama, fans got to see who among the three Roy siblings almost had the last laugh—after kicking out Connor(half-brother).
But how have they processed it? The different emotions, including disappointment, hope for a continuation, and correct predictions by lovers of the show, would be duly understood after delving into Succession season 4, which happens to be the finale.

Succession Has A Place in TV History
This Jeremy Armstrong creation handpicked a host of skill sets second to none to bring to life the storyline. It starred Jeremy Strong, Nicholas Braun, Alan Ruck, Sarah Snook, and Matthew Macfadyen, among others. Consequently, the series earned its stripes and due recognition, especially after four seasons and over thirty episodes. So far, it has bagged two Golden Globe victories and two Emmys. At the same time, the actors have received accolades from fans as well as the industry. Cox, who played Logan, was presented with the Best Actor award at the Golden Globes, while Snook (Logan’s daughter, Shiv) won the Best Supporting Actress. But it is said that all good things must come to an end.
Succession Finale Recap With Many Unbelievable Moments
Succession Season 4 spotlights the Roy siblings, who, for a long time, have butt heads reunite. At the same time, their aim was to consolidate the trust built, thereby making the betrayal easily achievable.
Fans were shocked by Shiv’s half-baked loyalty to Kendall, her brother. The last leg of the family drama saw Shiv, first introduced as a political strategist, and Roman, the youngest son, solidify her support for Kendall. But this was only to halt GoJo from having the last laugh with the purchase of Waystar Royco.
Eventually, the only female Roy family member switched off her support engine. Instead of voting for Kendall, she confronted him with a dirty secret from season 1. Shiv blamed him for taking a life, and like the audience, he did not see it coming. Kendall had least expected the shock again when Roman said he was infertile, but in his astonishment, he tried to have his way by physically and verbally attacking his siblings.
But even Kendall’s outburst could not manipulate his way to the top. The show’s creator chose Tom, Shiv’s husband, as the best option to supersede the affairs in Waystar RoyCo. The new CEO held hands with his leading woman as they exited the building, leaving behind a devastated Kendall who believed he was next in line as the first son. The last scene highlighted Kendall in his most vulnerable state as he gazed into thin air, wondering what was next in the cards for him.
Reactions to Succession Finale Ending With Season 4
A host of fans and critics have had a lot to say about the way the Succession finale was shoved in their faces. As mentioned earlier, they had not seen Shiv’s backstabbing coming. Some took to Twitter to replay the scenes. A fan shared a screenshot from the series where Shiv threw the bombshell. This same person quipped:
“MY JAW JUST DROPPED.”
A few other Twitter users made memes befitting of Kendall’s shell-shock reaction— literally depicting him gasping for air. Another fan pointed at Roman, who poked fun at his brother, explaining that his kids cannot be legitimate heirs as he is infertile. The fan believed it was a low blow and unwarranted.
A rollercoaster of emotions was set into full motion following the closing scene of Succession season 4. Many could not believe the series had taken its last bow with Kendall on the losing ladder. One fan gave a breakdown of the fate of the three Roy siblings but mentioned that it was all unbelievable, adding, “SOMEBODY [expletives] SEDATE ME.” Others could not come to terms with the fact that the Succession finale was truly here. They battled with the idea of not watching their favorite characters and the show’s satirical/comedic storylines.
Apparently, onscreen viewers were not the only ones with their two cents on the series ending. Kieran Culkin, aka Roman, was open with his reaction to the Succession finale. He explained that after Armstrong gave up the last draft, it proposed an open-ended finale. This meant that anything was still possible even though it was the end. “It’s one of those where if he said there’s going to be a [season] five right after that, it made sense too. It feels like an end, but it feels like it could carry on,” he said.
