Sugar Pine 7 has released the first official video for their short film, The Woods (referred to originally as Murder Pine), on their YouTube channel. While they’ve talked about the film in shorts and on podcasts, stating it would be a horror film, the trailer is the first reveal of both its content and name.
Set entirely separate from the loose continuity of the current list of videos done by Sugar Pine 7, The Woods will tell the story of a group of friends spending time at their favorite Sugar Pine cabin, #7, and the subsequent horrors that occur during their stay.

The trailer doesn’t reveal entirely too much, as it is set to mostly music, containing little dialogue, but reinforces the group’s mindset that it will carry a very different tone. It does provide a glimpse into what’s to come, featuring a bloody windshield, someone scrabbling for a gun, and an ominous man staring down the camera in a convenience store.
No character names have been released yet, as Steven Suptic did say no one would go by their real names, and no plot details outside of the location are known. While it’s a short film, the runtime hasn’t been revealed either, but the Sugar Pine 7 crew has mentioned they’ve been working on the film for a few months now.
It’s certainly a bold endeavor for Sugar Pine 7, going from a channel founded upon its goofy Vlog, alternative reality style to a short film. But if any group of YouTuber can pull it off, it’s Steven Suptic’s award-winning – recently winning a Streamy for Best Show – crew.
The Woods will be released on Sugar Pine 7’s official YouTube channel on Halloween, October 31, 2017. Roosterteeth First members will have access to the short film one week early, similarly to most videos they put out on their site.
