After just under 2 months since the last reveal, Nintendo has been secretly working on the next addition to Smash Ultimate. With Sephiroth answering lots of fan prayers, the hope for something more familiar was large with mounting support for more first-party characters. Yet, the need for more crossovers has inflated predictions over what’s next for the remaining 3 fighters in the second paid DLC pack. With the first official Nintendo Direct showing off many new titles coming to the switch, the presentation was sure to include the newest update on Super Smash Bros Ultimate. Starting the Nintendo direct with news on the latest fighter to debut, it seems that Nintendo has answered some fan outcry by adding Pyra and Mythra. With more representation from one of their more esteemed series, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, the inclusion was clear.
While the fighter is just one-half of the protagonist from Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Pyra is seemingly well equipped for the battle. The gameplay showcase showed off some of her more flashy skills and moves gives a sense of her capabilities in battle. With decent range and mobility, Pyra also can shift between her other personality. Switching between Mythra and Pyra to change up your attacking style seems integral to her playstyle. While the details are sparse, we do know that the planned release date is slated from some time in March, just a few weeks after the presentation.
She definitely has that Xenoblade character look for her moves and is a perfect fit for Super Smash Bros. You can be sure to expect a new presentation featuring series director Masahiro Sakurai to introduce all of her new tools and abilities in a full video. While it is just been a few weeks since the last character in Smash, there are still 2 more unannounced characters with potential for new and exciting reveals.
