The Superman family of titles will be shaking up this summer as DC relaunches the main Superman series, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Things have already been pretty exciting in the current titles, but the future looks just as bright.
Starting on July 13th, Tom Taylor and John Timms will be relaunching DC’s flagship Superman title as Superman: Son of Kal-El. The series will focus on Jon Kent as the new Superman with a new #1 issue. Jon will have to live up to Kal-El’s legacy as his father continues his efforts to liberate Warworld.
Excitingly, Grant Morrison also returns to the Superman family with this summer’s Superman and the Authority miniseries. Instead of turning to the Justice League, Clark will be forming a team of his own. Featuring art by Mikel Janin, the four-issue story will see Clark gather characters like WildStorm’s Midnighter and Apollo to take the fight to Mongul.

Additionally, the current creative team Phillip Kennedy Johnson and Daniel Sampere continue their run on the Action Comics ongoing series. July’s Action Comics #1033 sees the original Man of Steel risking war with Atlantis to track down refugees from Warworld.
The previously announced Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow limited series by Tom King and Bilquis Evely is still on track for its June release. Issue #2 will see the Girl of Steel chasing down an interstellar criminal on a cosmic bus.
DC has been teasing Jon’s time as Superman for quite a while now, so this isn’t too surprising. Luckily, DCeased can give us an idea of how Taylor will write Jon Kent.
