CW is working on a spin-off for Supernatural, called “The Winchesters“, with Jensen Ackles and Danneel Ackles as executive producers of the show. The show Supernatural was about two brothers Sam and Dean Winchester, who have saved the world countless times from monsters. The spin-off revolves around their parents, John and Mary Winchester, and their untold love story.
The Winchesters will be narrated by Jensen Ackles as Dean Winchester, who is the older son of John and Mary. It will show how the couple meets and how they are willing to put the whole world on the line for their love. One-time Supernatural co-executive producer Robbie Thompson will pen the project, which hails from the Ackles’ Chaos Machine Productions and Warner Bros. Television.
Supernatural just wrapped its series finale last year with a whopping 15 seasons. The fans said goodbye to the beloved characters but were still optimistic that their story wasn’t over just yet.
Jensen Ackles said the following in a statement:
After Supernatural wrapped its 15th season, we knew it wasn’t over. Because like we say in the show, ‘nothing ever really ends, does it? When Danneel and I formed Chaos Machine Productions, we knew the first story we wanted to tell was the story of John and Mary Winchester, or rather the Supernatural origin story. I always felt like my character, Dean, would have wanted to know more about his parents’ relationship and how it came to be. So I love the thought of having him take us on this journey.”
Supernatural creator Eric Kripke too joined in on the good news by tweeting:
When @JensenAckles first told me this story, I loved it. He & @DanneelHarris & @rthompson1138 are the perfect people to make it. (The other perfect person is too busy Texas Rangering.) Thanks for carrying the torch, guys, go kick it in the ass. Proud of you. #SPN #SPNFamily https://t.co/56hg9NwdHc

The Winchesters marks the third attempt to spin-off Supernatural: The backdoor pilots Bloodlines and the female-centric Wayward Sisters both failed to get series orders. Are you excited about this Supernatural prequel spin-off? Be sure to let us know!
