Stuck in a strange world, the only way to succeed is to fight. Action-adventure role-playing game Grime has been announced with a new trailer.
In the trailer, you play as a humanoid being that has a purple orb for a head. It looks like thanks to your noggin, you can absorb enemy projectiles and send them flying back towards them. You can also jump and dash around enemies to avoid getting hit.
Grime is a 2D action-adventure game with RPG elements. A major focus of the game is its combat system, where you use a collection of living weapons to fight alien creatures. The weapons are akin to the ones in Bloodborne, that features the ability to change into different forms in the heat of combat.
The combat looks as if you took the action combat of a Devil May Cry and transitioned it into the 2D platformer. With counters and airborne juggling, the combat has flow yet heavy hits look impactful to enemies.
The trailer also shows off the stunning world the game is set in. It’s a nightmarish surreal landscape of muted colors and stone. The enemy design is also particularly Lovecraftian in influence while retaining the stone design of the main world.
Grime Developed By Clover Bite
As you progress, you will unlock new abilities to help keep you alive and add new combat options. The game features dozens of large bosses, so you will have plenty of options to help upgrade your character.
Grime is developed by Clover Bite, and published by Akupara Games. While this is Clover Bite’s first game, Akupara Games has previously published Mutazione and The Darkside Detective.
For those interested to see this new take on a 2D action game, you will, unfortunately, have to keep waiting. Grime is slated as too be announced but is able to wishlist on Steam.
