Journey Developers Bringing New Epic Adventure to Playstation 5 With Sword of the Sea
Sword of the Sea is the next game on the horizon for Giant Squid, which was founded in 2016 by Matt Nava, who previously worked as an art director for thatgamecompany on games such as Flower (2009) and Journey (2012). With the release of Sword of the Sea, Nava says he and the team at Giant Squid hope to deliver their most ambitious and epic game to date.
“Our incredible team of artists has been hard at work bringing this unique and captivating world to life–from architecture and color to lighting, landscapes and music: be prepared to immerse yourself in a world unlike any you’ve experienced before,” Nava said in an official blog post.
In Sword of the Sea, players take on the role of a Wraith, a being who has been resurrected in a vast and desolate world. Tasked with restoring life to the land, they must explore submerged ruins, shipwrecks, petrified battlefields and encounter large shoals of fish and creatures, including massive leviathans found all over the world.
The Hoversword adds a new layer to all exploration, acting like a snowboard, skateboard, and hoverboard all at the same time. It allows for speedy and convenient travel to all corners of this world as you journey to discover what drained it of its life and what you can do to bring it all back.
Sword of the Sea will launch on PlayStation 5 sometime in the future, with more details expected later.
