People on social media can be kind or cruel to actors, especially when they perform provocative scenes in mature content. In an interview with GQ, Sydney Sweeney revealed that her family members were sent pictures on social media of her nudity scene from season 1 of Euphoria by trolls.
The scene in question comes from the debut season of the popular HBO series starring Zendaya. In Euphoria, Sydney Sweeney, who plays Cassie, had her nude pictures leaked. The images were screenshotted by fans on social media, who tagged her family. In the interview, she talked about how “disgusting and unfair” the situation was for her and her cousin. She called out the audience for doing what the characters did to her character in the Emmy-winning series.
“My cousins don’t need that. It’s completely disgusting and unfair. You have a character that goes through the scrutiny of being a sexualized person at school and then an audience that does the same thing.”
Sydney Sweeney slams trolls for sending her family her Euphoria nudity scenes
Time has passed since this first occurred. Now, Sydney Sweeney looks back, not caring about what people do about her nudity scenes in Euphoria. She called the situation “ridiculous.” To her, she is an “artist” who plays “characters.” The situation has made her want to step into the shoes of characters who will “p— people off more.”
Rumors went around that Sydney Sweeney had issues with Euphoria writer and director Sam Levinson. The additional provocative scenes were supposedly a problem for the actress, but she said that it was far from the truth and praised the writer. For those who spread rumors, she said that they “aren’t on set.” She said she has “trust” in Levinson, and that feeling “changes the entire experience” when an actor can feel that way about the director or writer.
Season 3 of Euphoria will begin next year with a 2024 return. The first two seasons can be watched on HBO Max, including two special episodes.
