If you cannot get enough of unscripted shows that involve people searching for love, then you’re in luck. Hulu is developing Back In The Groove, a reality series to be hosted by Taye Diggs (Empire). The actor will also serve as an executive producer.
The Taye Diggs series Back In The Groove will follow three women in their 40s. As they check into The Groove Hotel, a resort in the Dominican Republic, they will connect with their inner youth and find love by seeking men who are half their age. The women in question are Atlanta resident Sparkle, 43; Steph, a 41-year-old Miami resident; and Brooke, a 42-year-old from Los Angeles. The title is a play on words of the host’s first film role in How Stella Got Her Groove Back, where he starred with Angela Bassett.
Elan Gale will act as the showrunner while executive producing. He was previously a producer on The Bachelor and now produces HBO Max’s FBoy Island. The other executive producers will be the host, Bill Dixon, Sonya Wilkes, Evan Wilkes, Michael Krupat, John Luscombe, and Shannon Stoeke. Walt Disney Television Alternative and Beyond Media Rights Ltd. will produce. The eight-episode series will be the first unscripted Hulu Original under Walt Disney Television Alternative.
