Taylor Swift’s fans have been having a good time during her Eras Tour, in which they believed she hinted at her split from Joe Alwyn began in March 2023. However, the icon’s fans were left heartbroken on Saturday after one of their own died tragically. According to reports, the man, identified as Jacob Lewis, was hit by a drunk driver on his way from the 2022 AMA Music Video winner‘s concert in Houston; since Taylor Swift’s fan was killed, many have shown support in various forms. Taylor Swift’s GoFundMe has received thousands of dollars in donations in honor of Lewis, with more pouring in.
The Singer’s Fans Show Support
Nearly 7,000 fans have rallied around Lewis’ family since the tragic news of his demise hit the internet. On Monday, a GoFundMe page was set up in Lewis’s honor, with his father, Steve, set as the beneficiary. One day later, Taylor Swift’s GoFundMe surpassed the $75,000 goal.
The amount raised sits at $103,209, which might increase anytime soon. With about 6,900 donors, hundreds came from the Lover singer who received the Innovator award at iHeartRadio Music Awards‘ supporters donating $13 — Swift’s lucky number. They also left song lyrics to commemorate Lewis’s life.
Donors hope that the money raised will be used to cover Lewis’s funeral expenses. Although Taylor Swift’s fan was killed when he was only 20, he will always be remembered by his family and friends. Lewis will also not be forgotten by the Pokémon Community of Houston, where he was an active member.
What Happened To Lewis?
During the early hours of Saturday, Lewis and sister April were returning from Taylor Swift’s concert when their car developed issues on the highway. According to reports, Lewis highlighted and began pushing the car. Unfortunately, 34-year-old Alan Bryant Hayes hit him with his truck.
The suspect then proceeded to pull Lewis from under his tire with help from April, after which he fled the scene. However, a good Samaritan, who watched everything unfold, followed Hayes. Eventually, the suspect was caught and taken into custody. Lewis’s family hopes they can get justice for their loved one’s demise.
