If you’re looking for a bit of virtual creativity to indulge, Main Assembly from Worms Publisher Team 17 may be right up your alley.
In fact, the game came to Steam Early Access just yesterday, giving players the chance to experience the robot-building, multiplayer fun for themselves after an impressive trailer hit the web. You can check that out right here:
To sum Main Assembly up, it’s a robot-building simulator where you can build your own personal robot and customize it with over 65 different parts. You can then put your unique work to the test by engaging in single-player challenges or through online multiplayer activities. However, if you just want to enjoy the sandbox-style open-world, then that’s your prerogative, too.
The game utilizes a unique but easy-to-use programming language that allows you to set the controls for your invention or automate them with a variety of sensors. In this sense, it’s not too dissimilar from Lego’s EV3 robot series – the main difference being that this takes place entirely on your computer. Regardless, there’s unlimited potential for creativity where robot-building and programming is concerned.
Regarding the move to Steam Early Access, Team 17 ‘s Head of Publishing Max Everingham said:
We’ve already seen the incredible creative potential of Main Assembly in recent months. Its growing and passionate community has already produced some mindblowing contraptions from history, the modern world, and pure imagination throughout the game’s various beta releases. The move to Early Access will continue to build on that impressive creative trajectory in the months ahead, as more content updates bring even more possibilities for players to use in their creations.
Meanwhile, Joel Jonsson, CEO and Creative Director of Bad Yolk, who developed the game, had this to say about their project:
We’ve been hammering away at Main Assembly for the last few months, tweaking the experience based on player feedback, and we’re now ready for Early Access players to pick up their tools and get to work! It’s been a long road to get to where we are now, and with Team17’s help we’re at the point where we’re willing to let even more players in to flex their creative muscles and show us what they can make.
Players can download the assets right here.
