Former Teen Mom OG star Ryan Edwards is facing more than eleven months in prison after being sentenced on charges of harassment. The reality star, who has become entangled in a series of run-ins with the law in the last decade, would face his moment of reckoning following his latest arrest.
The 35-year-old who violated the terms of his probation pleaded guilty to harassment earlier. Filing from the Hamilton County Court, Tennessee, confirms Ryan Edwards was sentenced to 11 months and 29 days as a result as a part of a plea deal. According to People, the plea deal required the star to complete a rehab treatment program or serve the sentence, all while having no contact with his wife and mother of his two children, Mackenzie.
Ryan Edwards Sentenced Amid Mackenzie Divorce
Notably, Mackenzie Standifier reportedly filed for divorce from her estranged husband on February 27, 2023, after six years of marriage. The mom of two also obtained a temporary restraining order against him the same day. Additionally, the court granted her custody of their two children, including son Jagger, 5, and 3-year-old daughter Stella. Days prior, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s office served Ryan an Order of Protection, demanding he vacates the home he shared with Mackenzie and their kids.
On March 1, two days after the filing, officers discovered that Ryan, who had an active warrant for harassment, violated the Order of Protection by visiting Mackenzie’s dad. Ultimately, officers arrested him at his place of work, where they discovered the drug paraphernalia and two bags of suspected narcotics in his possession. They booked him on harassment, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and violation of an order of protection.
During the court hearing, he pled guilty to harassment. However, authorities dismissed his other charges of drug possession, order of protection violation, and stalking.
Ryan Had Several Run-Ins With The Law
Ryan Edwards’ prison sentence follows a string of arrests in the last five years. Even with his ongoing case, Ryan still managed to land himself more legal woes, most recently busted on April 7 for DUI. At the time, officers found a controlled substance in his possession and also charged him with violating the terms of his probation.
Ryan Edward’s harassment issues with substance abuse are no secret, as Mackenzie tabled his struggles on season 7 of Teen Mom OG. At the peak of his addiction, he reportedly spent up to $10,000 per week on drugs. Despite his effort to break free from his drug habits by enrolling in rehab in 2018, Ryan only appears to sink to deeper lows. Hopefully, reporting to the correctional facility would help the TV personality face his demons head-on and emerge a renewed man ready to become an exemplary dad to his kids.
