In 2012, Telltale Games seemed to become a household name overnight with the release of the episodic adventure game The Walking Dead based on the wildly successful comics. It didn’t hurt that there was a very successful television series also based on the same property at the same time. Fast forward half a decade and the series has produced three full seasons following Clem’s journey as well as one mini-series and a DLC teaser prequel to season two. If you haven’t played any of these then you will be interested in the Telltale Series Collection.
Publishers Skybound Entertainment and Telltale Games have now announced that all of The Walking Dead content released to date will be packaged together in one place. It will be available on disc for PS4 and Xbox One and also available as a single digital download. The full list of content will be: The Walking Dead, The Walking Dead: Season Two, The Walking Dead: A New Frontier, The Walking Dead: Michonne and The Walking Dead: 400 Days. The package titled, The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series Collection will span 19 episodes and release December 5, 2017. All of the above with the exception of the most recently released A New Frontier will be visually enhanced.
The announcement for The Telltale Collection was not the only news up the developer’s sleeve. They also announced that Gary Whitta would be returning to the series. Whitta’s credits include Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and The Book of Eli. Whitta will act as a story consultant for the fourth and final season of the game. He was one of the writers on the first season of The Walking Dead. With respect to returning to the series, Whitta said,
“Collaborating with Telltale on the first season of Clementine’s journey through the world of The Walking Dead was one of the highlights of my career, so reuniting with them to now bring her story to a close with this final season feels like a homecoming. Clementine has become not just one of the most compelling characters in the Walking Dead pantheon but one of the great video game characters of all time. I hope we’re able to do justice to her and to her millions of fans. This one feels special.”
