Terraria is among many people’s lists as one of their favorite survival games, especially from the Xbox 360 era. It’s been praised for some awesome exploration and an insane amount of depth, with a ton for players to do all in a 2D space. With it being Terraria’s ninth year, the game’s final update is nearly upon us, and we finally know when it’s coming. Terraria’s Journey’s End expansion will release on May 16th, 2020. The news was officially brought to us through Re-Logic’s president’s official Twitter page.
Journey’s End brings a breadth of quality-of-life improvements to the game along with some final content for players to sink their teeth into. Among that is an astounding 800 new items to collect. Some of these will be collectible in the procedurally generated world, while others will have to be crafted. Either way, there will be items for nearly every type of situation you desire. Along with items, there are even more enemies to fight who will likely drop some of the upcoming items. Players will be able to get many more hours into Terraria just from finding many of these items alone.
But of course, you can’t have new enemies and items without some new Terraria world generation to go with it. These include some updated versions of pre-existing biomes, along with some new ones to explore. Not only that, but enhanced weather effects will cover each region, giving them a unique look once in a while. You’ll be able to explore these lands more, too, given that the quality-of-life improvements will save you a lot of time. Among these will be Block Swap and Void Vault, but there’s many more where that came from.
This is, of course, not everything coming in the final Terraria update. If you want more information, you can check out the official reveal blog post here. Journey’s End comes free to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 3/4, Xbox 360/One, Android, iOS, 3DS, and PC on May 16th. Will you be hopping into Terraria on the update launch day?
