A Texas woman took to TikTok to express her shock after ordering a family meal from Texas Roadhouse, claiming the steak she received had an unusual texture that made her nearly sick to her stomach. While she said she had always enjoyed the restaurant’s chicken and salad in the past, this was her first time trying one of their steaks, and she couldn’t believe what she found inside.

@Texas Roadhouse For the record we absolutely love Texas roadhouse, I’ve never had one of their steaks. I always get chicken and salad, I’m just needing clarification because this is not normal.

The Strange Meal

The woman had ordered the meal for her nephew, who loves the restaurant, but decided to try a small piece herself before serving it. As soon as she did, she said the texture immediately felt wrong. In her video, she described the inside of the steak as soft, pasty, and unlike any meat she had eaten before. “What would you do if somebody fed you a steak that was pure mush?” she asked as she prodded the food with her spoon. “The whole steak just turns to mush.”

The customer explained that when she tried to cut into it, the piece simply flopped apart, with no firmness or fibers typical of cooked meat. “Look at the texture, it’s like there’s no sinew… It was like mashed potatoes or pate.” She added that it didn’t have a rotten smell but did have a “funky” odor that made her suspicious of its quality.

The woman said she had been sick and unable to drive back to the restaurant to complain in person, so she decided to record the video and ask the internet for help identifying what she had been served. “I took a bite of it in my mouth, and I almost threw up all over the place,” she told her viewers. “So somebody tell me what it is that I got. Tag Roadhouse in the comments and maybe they can help me understand what in the world it is.”

The clip drew strong reactions from people, with many just as disturbed as the woman. “Girl, you’re gonna make us all hurl,” one person commented. Another added, “I would seriously question if that was real meat!” while a third wrote, “I’d be heading right back over there with this garbage. This is disgusting.”

Some speculated about what could have caused the odd texture, with one comment claiming it looked like “an abscessed piece of meat.” Others offered more technical explanations, suggesting it could be the result of chemical or processing errors. “Maybe they added too much papain enzyme to make it less tough and overdid it,” one commenter suggested. Another wrote, “It could be caused by improper cooking, over-brining, or very low-quality meat. All of these break down the connective tissue.” One viewer also theorized that “this is what happens when they use meat glue to stick cheaper cuts of meat together to give the steak shape.”
