The Batman’s box office record is now set to approach $300 million USD. This now puts the movie on track to match the record set by Spider-Man: No Way Home. The Batman has had a strong opening domestically, earning about $134 million in the first weekend.
With a few other March movies to compete with, the film has continued to perform well. Worldwide, The Batman’s box office has already broken half a billion.
Variety estimates that the movie is estimated to earn another $39 million in the domestic market. This will place it at the #1 movie for the weekend for the third week in a row, bringing its domestic total to over $300 million. Once The Batman hits this mark, it will be the only movie in the pandemic era to do so (along with Spider-Man: No Way Home). This will also make The Batman’s box office record greater than No Time to Die and Free Guy combined.
The Batman Box Office: Rising in the Ranks
The Batman is the second DC film to be released in the pandemic era, after The Suicide Squad. However, with just another $31 million, The Batman will surpass 2015’s Batman v. Superman.
Although The Batman is sitting comfortably at the box office, the biggest competition yet is Crunchyroll’s release of Jujutsu Kaisen 0. Other films seemed to have vacated their release dates in March to give The Batman time to cycle through. However, this didn’t stop Jujutsu Kaisen 0 from bringing in its audience. It’s not the same as the numbers for The Batman, but the anime film is projected to earn a weekend total of 19$ million USD.
The dark take on the superhero has seen many positive reviews from critics and audiences. After a few weeks, The Batman has also earned a Cinema Score of A-. Besides Robbert Pattinson as the aforementioned hero, the movie also stars Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman. Matt Reeves serves as the director.
Currently, The Batman is still playing in theaters.
