Director Matt Reeves has assured fans that The Batman‘s release date won’t be pushed back any more. As of now, the film is still on track for its March 4th date.
The Batman (starring Robert Patterson) has already appeared on many people’s “most anticipated movies” lists for 2022. Still, that doesn’t erase the skepticism that many fans felt when the actor was first announced as the leading role. As time went on and more glimpses of the film were shown, many people were ready for another iteration of the caped crusader to root for.
Given that Sony has pushed back the next installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (Morbius) and Warner Brothers have just announced the delay of the next Mission Impossible, many had started to wonder if The Batman would get the same treatment. However, WarnerMedai CEO Jason Kilar had stated that the company is keeping an eye out for the pandemic. However, there are no plans to delay anything. Kilar then went on to say in an interview with Puck News,
We’re certainly paying attention to everything going on with Omicron. We feel good about the date right now. We’re gonna watch it day by day.
The Batman’s Release Date History with Delays
The film has already been delayed multiple times for different reasons. The first date for The Batman was supposed to be June 25th. It was then followed by another delay to October 1st, 2021, before the final March date. All of these reasons for the delay have been listed as COVID-19 related issues.
Kilar also confirmed that the movie would be available to watch on HBO Max after a 45-day theatrical window. He claimed that he felt “really, really good” about the exclusive theatrical window, followed by the streaming method first.
The Batman stars Robert Pattinson, Zoe Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, and John Turturro. The movie opens exclusively in theaters on March 4th. It is expected to be available on HBO Max around April 19th, 2022.
