We’re less than one month away from the newest escapades of the caped crusaders. The Batman, which features Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne, will focus on the early parts of his heroic career. Similar to Batman Begins, it will focus on a young adult Wayne as he molds the Batman persona and fights his first supervillain, Riddler. The film seems pretty violent and vengeful, according to trailers. Of course, that was the original intent that Bruce went for. That said, Pattinson has assured fans that he will stay true to the Bat’s nature. With the popularity for the movie already high, it seems talks of a trilogy for The Batman are already underway.
A Psychological Delve Into What It Means to Be The Bat
According to all the press we’ve seen so far, this Batman movie will delve into the deepest parts of what it means to personify vengeance as Batman. The Riddler even seems to have a grudge against the Wayne family and could act as an excellent foil to Bruce’s sense of justice. Further, this could all be for the greater goal of forcing Batman to question whether vengeance itself is a great enough motivator to protect all of Gotham. With that in mind, there’s a lot to play with. It seems that the movie will also incorporate some heavy Bruce Wayne storylines. Specifically, it will crack into the development of his playboy cover persona. This combination will be an interesting way to see both sides of The Bat transform.
The Batman May End Up With More Than a Sequel
The Batman has captivated audiences so far, and it’s not even out yet! Even so, IMAX preview tickets have sold out extremely fast. Robert Pattinson feels the gritty nature of the movie, alongside Bruce Wayne’s story arc, makes this Batman movie very unique. He and his co-stars believe there is room to grow with the character and his universe. With that in mind, Pattinson has already discussed the implications of a trilogy on The Batman with director Matt Reeves. It’s a little too early to tell when, or if, that will come, but it could be quite the ride.
The Batman will premiere in theaters on March 4, 2022. Additionally, it’ll drop on HBO Max on April 19, 2022.
