Kristine Froseth and Alisha Boe will star in the Apple TV+ series adaptation of The Buccaneers. It is based on the final novel by Edith Wharton. The story is about some rich American girls in the 1870s who are deadset on finding upperclassmen to wed during the London debutante season. Kristine Froseth is playing Nan St George, and Alisha Boe will play Conchita Closson. Froseth is best known for her roles in Hulu’s Looking for Alaska and The Society. Boe was a series regular in 13 Reasons Why. Katherine Jakeways is writing the script for the Apple TV+ series adaptation. Susanna White is directing the project. The Buccaneers series adaptation is in progress in Scotland. Jakeways and White are executive producers, as well as Beth Willis and George Faber. The Forge Entertainment for Apple TV+ is producing the project.
Kristine Froseth and Alisha Boe Are No Strangers to Series Adaptations
Both Looking for Alaska and 13 Reasons Why were based on books. They are both set in the 21st century though, unlike their upcoming series. The Apple TV+ series adaptation of The Buccaneers will take place in the 19th century. Edith Wharton died in the 20th century, so she won’t have input in this series like John Green did for Looking for Alaska and Jay Asher for 13 Reasons Why. Ever since the mass popularity of period pieces brought on by Bridgerton with a diverse cast, there has been a growing market for those stories. Alisha Boe and Kristine Froseth will be in a series not based around suicide this time but matrimony. The logline for The Buccaneers adaptation reads, “Girls with money, men with power. New money, old secrets.” As with many period pieces, this Apple TV+ series adaption implies a lot of drama.
Alisha Boe and Kristine Froseth are no strangers to being in drama series. There has been no announcement of the release date of the series adaptation of The Buccaneers.
