Point and click adventure game The Dark Prophecy will leave Steam Early Access later this month, on February 28, 2022. A press release published earlier today revealed the details of the game’s departure from Early Access.
The Dark Prophecy is an indie game that draws inspiration from the point-and-click classics of the 90s. The game was developed by Start Warp and published by Meridian4. The Dark Prophecy has been in Early Access on Steam since June of last year. According to the game’s Steam store page, players take on the role of Jacob, a young boy who is tasked with rescuing his medieval village from the titular dark prophecy.
The Dark Prophecy makes use of traditional point-and-click adventure game commands, specifically, “look,” “talk,” and “use.” These commands allow players to engage with their environment by examining objects and conversing with NPCs. This mechanic and the game’s pixel graphics are an obvious homage to the point-and-click adventure games of the 90s.
In today’s press release, Start Warp expressed their enthusiasm for The Dark Prophecy:
“”We are immensely grateful to all the players who showed interest in the game and gave feedback; thanks to you, the project has become much better. Together with you and thanks to you, we have come a long way; from a small prototype to a complete story. The moment our game is released to the world is an absolutely unforgettable feeling as if you release your creation into the outside world to see how it will be received by players from different countries. These feelings justify all the hardships of development. We are happy to finally release the completed version of the story to the players and will be ready to follow the feedback and monitor the stability of the release version. Welcome to the world of The Dark Prophecy and have a good game!”, said Dennis Afanasev, lead developer at Start Warp.”
The Dark Prophecy will leave Steam Early Access on February 28, 2022. The game will be on sale for 30% off during launch week.
