The universe of Destiny is the latest game to get the novelty cookbook treatment as of today. Bungie’s loot shooter is now joining the likes of The Elder Scrolls, Overwatch, and, more dubiously, Fallout, which all have recipe collections available.
Bungie has teamed up with author Victoria Rosenthal of the Pixelated Provisions blog to create the new cookbook. The book contains a variety of recipes for food and drinks inspired by characters, locations, and events from Destiny and Destiny 2. The new book is available now on the Bungie Store.
Based on the sampling of the recipes made available, the book will contain dishes with inspirations from a variety of world cuisines that fit into the world of Destiny. The book’s flavor text is written from the perspective of Eva Levante, Destiny’s holiday event quest giver.
Given that Destiny’s most recent holiday event, The Dawning focused on delivering cookies and other tasty treats for Eva, we can expect a few baked goods in the new book. Some of this text is lifted directly from in-game flavor text, as in the case of the Gjallardoodles cookies that appeared in The Dawning 2019. Food is also a running theme in Destiny’s emotes so a few recipes will come from there of course. Spicy ramen anyone?
The book comes a little over two weeks into the latest season of Destiny, Season of Arrivals. The new season picks up the main story thread started in the Shadowkeep expansion launched last year alongside a retooling of the games business model. In Shadowkeep apparent big bad of the franchise teased in a post-credits cutscene of the campaign of Destiny 2 made their first real appearance in-game. Since then the game’s story has meandered between a couple of tangents and the player base has waxed and waned due to changing interest in gameplay more than anything. This latest season is widely regarded as an improvement over the two most recent ones, so it may be a good time to drop back in for those who’ve lapsed.
What recipe are you looking forward to making from Destiny?
