The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is getting a board game. The fifth major entry in Bethesda’s fantasy action-RPG series is arguably the most popular. Since its release in 2011, Bethesda has ported it to pretty much every console under the sun. Now, Modiphius Entertainment will be making it available in a different format. And the company is going the crowd-funding route via GameFound.
Modiphius Entertainment previously released The Elder Scrolls: Call to Arms in 2019. That board game also featured elements from Skyrim, such as the Dragonborn and the Civil War between the Imperials and Stormcloaks. But it also centered around miniature figures and various expansion bundles, which can get pretty pricy. Hopefully, Modiphius’s newest take on the world of Tamriel is more accessible for casual players.
What to Expect in the Skyrim Board Game
There isn’t much information on the GameFound page yet. All we really know right now is that it will be “an epic co-operative board game of adventure across Skyrim for 1-4 players.” But following the project will give you access to any updates leading up to launch. In fact, when a user asked about other aspects, Modiphius stated the following:
There will be lots of previews of components, gameplay and design blogs in the run up to launch, and a playable demo on Tabletop Simulator to try the game before you decide whether to support the project. By following the project you’ll see these updates first.”
Modiphius Entertainment has worked on many other tabletop games that are based on video games. These include Fallout: Wasteland Warfare and Dishonored: The Roleplaying Game. But it has also released games based on franchises of other mediums such as the Star Trek Adventures tabletop RPG and Alien: The Roleplaying Game.
