The Entropy Centre took the time to reveal itself in a new trailer during the Future Games Show on June 11th, 2022. It takes heavy influence from Valve’s popular first-person puzzle game, Portal. That’s not a bad thing. Stubby Games succeeds at keeping things fresh and unique with their time-bending puzzle-solving platformer. Instead of thinking outside the box with different portals, you will need to think in reverse to solve complex puzzles by rewinding objects through time.
What Is The Entropy Centre?
You take on the role of Aria, an employee at The Entropy Centre. The Centre is a space station in Earth’s orbit. Aria needs to solve puzzles to generate entropy energy. This energy helps Earth, which suffered a cataclysmic event, rendering all life on its surface extinct. Aria is accompanied by Astra, a talking gun capable of moving objects. Every puzzle that you solve brings you one step closer to the heart of The Entropy Centre. Don’t solve the puzzles, and, well, you go extinct. The space station’s heart is the answer to why it and Earth are in their current state.
The Game Has Some Mystery
Don’t be fooled by the trailer’s focus on solving puzzles and clearing debris from the space station. There is very much of a story in this game and a mystery to be solved. Aria has no memory of how she ended up in The Entropy Centre, why it is in a decrepit state, or why Earth is uninhabitable. The answers are in The Centre. It’s a matter of being able to find them and if you’ll like what you find.
The game’s description:
With the aid of Astra – a talking gun capable of moving objects backwards in time – Aria can restore the facility’s collapsed bridges, reassemble destroyed pathways, and overcome ingeniously complex puzzles to progress to the core of The Entropy Centre in the hope of surviving this seemingly doomed space station and, somehow, finding a way home.
Daniel Stubbington, Stubby Games founder, said:
This is the game that I’ve wanted to craft for a long time and I can’t wait to see players delve into this crazy time-manipulating world that I’ve created.
While Playstack chief executive Harvey Elliot stated:
The Entropy Centre is a brilliant example of what we are looking for – it’s an extraordinarily smart, satisfying, and witty puzzle game that is resonating with fans. We are feeling great about its response so far and have big plans for the coming months to maximize its success.
The Entropy Centre launches later this year for PC and consoles.
