The Fall of X is fast approaching, and upcoming issues of X-Men and Invincible Iron Man are paving the way. Gerry Duggan, who is currently writing both series, is about to bring them together for an essential story. This story features new mutant ally Iron Man and will impact the X-Men and their upcoming Fall of X event.
The Fall of X
For months Marvel has teased the upcoming Fall of X event. It is an overarching storyline that is set to impact every X-Men title and the Marvel Universe as a whole. The event will be an important chapter in the history of Krakoa, which began with Jonathan Hickman’s House of X and Powers of X. However, since those storylines built such a strong foundation for mutants, many have asked whether this peace and place of solitude can last forever. Fall of X will definitively answer that question.
While the event doesn’t officially begin until this year’s Hellfire Gala one-shot, several one-shots will prepare readers for what is to come. Four “Before the Fall” issues will document events leading up to the Fall of X. However, a big piece of the puzzle may be in the hands of Tony Stark.
Iron Man: Ally to Mutants?
Gerry Duggan’s X-Men and Invincible Iron Man series are about to come together. Things have already been put in motion with Feilong seizing control of Stark Unlimited’s resources. The mutant-hating industrialist plans to sue those resources to give Orchis the victory in the war against mutants. However, as these events culminate, will Tony Stark step up and save the mutants or watch them fall?
Things kick off in X-Men #28, where the newly unleashed Stark Sentinels fight against the X-Men for the first time. Under the control of Feilong, these Sentinels have one goal in mind: kill all mutants. However, Invincible Iron Man #7 sees Tony Stark desperately searching for a win. What better way to get one than to infiltrate and destroy Stark Industries? All of this leads to July’s Invincible Iron Man #8, which ties into the events of the Hellfire Gala.
