The Flash’s day to speed his way onto the silver screen is finally approaching. The film has had a laundry list of setbacks since the inception of the idea in 2016, but the end is near. As part of the hype for both New York Comic Con and DC Fandome coming next week, Warner Brothers has been pushing some major hype for everyone’s favorite scarlet speedster.
With An End to Filming Comes Hope from the Crew
On Twitter earlier today, it was announced that after a 124-day filming process, the upcoming The Flash movie finishes its production. Director Andy Muschietti (well known from IT) has been working hard on the rewrite and production of the movie. He feels that the movie will produce an enjoyable new version of the famous Flashpoint storyline. Additionally, sound designer Colin Nicolson feels they’ve got something good running. That said, few details about the plot of the movie are known so far. It’s hard to say how things will go with so little to work off, to say the least. However, DC has promised some juicy details at their Fandome soon. There’s hope that this feature, along with the upcoming Batman flick, will bring new life to a struggling DC Extended Universe.
The Flash’s Star-Studded Cast
One thing that has kept fans interested in the movie over its long production timeline has been its cast announcements. At this point it has been confirmed that not one, but two Batmen are joining Ezra Miller on the cast. Michael Keaton, the Bruce Wayne of 30 years ago, has signed on to reprise it. Additionally, Ben Affleck’s Batman will be returning in kind to help our young speedster out. How the two caped crusaders will fit into the film is unknown so far. On top of this is confirmation that Supergirl, played by Sasha Calle, will be making her DCEU debut.
Many fans are excited about the addition of multiple fan-favorite characters and actors. Others worry that this may take the focus away from Ezra Miller himself. Now that The Flash has finished filming, post-production work for the movie can begin. It has been slated for a November 2022 release.
