Kim Kardashian West makes her hosting debut on Saturday Night Live. While she doesn’t have anything premiering, Kim has been in the public eye for years. Her reality show Keeping Up With the Kardashians ran for 20 seasons, and her very public separation from Kanye West has kept her in the news cycle. The Kim Kardashian SNL monologue made a lot of noise in the entertainment world. And the Kim Kardashian SNL review has been positive and lively so far.
Kim enlisted the help of Dave Chappelle, Ellen DeGeneres, Amy Schumer, James Corden, and Michelle Wolf. Live from New York, it was Saturday night, and Kim Kardashian’s monologue hit better than some people thought it would.
Even Kim Kardashian pointed out in her monologue that she seemed an odd choice to host Saturday Night Live. It was one of her many funny moments on SNL:
Kim Kardashian SNL Monologue
Everyone in her inner circle did not get a free pass with her opening monologue, including herself. “I know, I’m surprised to see me here too,” Kim said. “When they asked, I was like ‘You want me to host? Why?’ I haven’t had a movie premiere in a really long time. I mean, actually, I only had that one movie come out and no one told me it was even premiering.”
“It must have slipped my mom’s mind,” she added.
This was a reference to the now-famous sex tape she made with her then-boyfriend, actor/singer Ray J, which was leaked in 2007. Kim and her family became reality show superstars because of the leak. Kardashian West’s mother, Kris Jenner, has always denied any involvement in the leak.
She also joked about being hot and said she wanted people to know she’s “so much more than that reference photo my sisters show their plastic surgeon.” She also said that she learned about the term “gold digger” from her mother’s boyfriend, Corey Gamble.
Also brought up were OJ Simpson and the murder of Nicole Brown Simpson. Even Ronald Goldman, Caitlyn Jenner, and Kanye West, her estranged husband.
Kim said she “married the best rapper of all time”. She referred to Kanye as “richest Black man in America” and “a talented, legit genius who gave me four incredible kids.”
“So, when I divorced him you had to know it came down to one thing — his personality,” she said with a witty tone.
Kim Kardashian SNL Skit
Three of Kim’s friends are struggling in the club: Cecily, Ego, and Punkie. They are out on a fun night without their husbands and kids. The women are shocked to discover the music is too loud, they’re tired, and they can’t control their bowel movements anymore. The sketch is a hit, and it’s one of the highlights of the episode. It turns out Kim is not her usual self now. Awake at the club, Punkie wonders why the music is playing so fast when Ego gives a busboy $500 for his shoes. Overall, the Kim Kardashian SNL skit was filled with moments of truth and humor.
“The People’s Kourt”
Kardashian West’s spoof of her sister Kourtney was fun. But not because her acting was spectacular, because her mom, Kris Jenner, and Khloe Kardashian joined in on the fun. Kourtney Kardashian played the role of a TV court judge overseeing cases involving her family. SNL gets credit for incorporating Kim Kardashian West’s faceless Met Gala look, which caused a lot of memes this year. This skit too has been a major player in hyping up the Kim Kardashian SNL review.
Kim Kardashian SNL “Bachelorette”
While no roses were passed out in this joke on “The Bachelorette,” Kardashian West distributed tokens of affection to the men she selected. Blake Griffin, who is Kendall Jenner’s ex, played a contestant along with Tyler Cameron and John Cena who played their characters.
“We will watch Dave Chappelle next time,” Rock quipped when Kardashian West, in her role as Rochelle on the lookout for a husband, thanked Rock for watching his several comedy specials with him.
