Metroidvania has always been a genre predicated on indie game development and innovation. Throughout the last few decades, most Metroidvania titles have been indie titles that are mainly inspired by the gothic Castlevania and sprawling space design of Metroid. While the industry has moved forward, many developers look to hold onto their core inspiration. Yet, many will attest to the genres shift in the past few years. From the earlier, more traditional interpretations to the now experimental, genres shift in look over time. Whether blending an art style or a new gameplay style, the indie genre has consistently pushed out new and unique Metroidvania games. After much development, Kumi Souls Games is getting ready to release their own Metroidvania game. Featured at the Future Games Show 2022, Kumi Souls Games revealed the gameplay trailer for The Last Faith.
