Skyward Sword HD was finally released late last week, letting players re-experience the Legend of Zelda title with quite a few improvements (including scrapping those incredibly annoying tutorials). As such, many are getting into the game for the first time to see what this Zelda entry is all about. That, and they’re using it as a coping mechanism for Breath of the Wild 2’s release date. One day friends, one day. Jokes aside, one of the moves you can learn to tackle foes in Skyward Sword HD is fatal blow, but it may be a bit confusing at first. No need to worry though as, in this guide, I’ll tell you exactly how you can unlock and use a fatal blow in Skyward Sword HD!
How to Unlock Fatal Blow in Skyward Sword HD
First of all, we have to unlock it. To do so, you must first have reached Skyloft and begun practicing with your sword alongside Eagus. He has you perform various sword techniques on logs within a room, and following this, he has you perform a spin attack. Once completed successfully, he’ll teach you about Fatal Blow!
How to Use Fatal Blow
There are a few steps to keep in mind, but it becomes a lot easier, like most things, with practice. First of all, lock on to your enemy. Then, perform an attack that will knock your target on their back (the spin attack from earlier can be particularly useful here). Once they’re on their back, you don’t have a lot of time to work with. And your attack will depend on the control scheme you’re using. You’ll have to go up to them, look for the fatal blow prompt, then execute a specific set of moves. Refer below for specific details:
- Button controls: Move the analog stick up, then down, then up again.
- Motion controls: Move the right Joy-con up, then down, then up again.
And that’s it! Now you know how to unlock and use a fatal blow in Skyward Sword HD. If this guide helped you at all, be sure to let me know in the comments below. As well, share it around so it can help others!
